About

I'm a landscape and night sky photographer based near Seattle, photographing national parks across the United States — more than a dozen in the past two years. It started close to home. Living in the Pacific Northwest means Mount Rainier and Olympic are weekend drives, and once you've spent enough pre-dawn hours waiting for light on a volcano, the idea of doing it somewhere else becomes hard to resist. Since then I've been working my way through the park system, one trip at a time, usually built around a specific shot and a narrow weather window.

Colorado Plateau — Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef
California — Yosemite, Sequoia, Redwood, Death Valley
Northern Rockies — Yellowstone, Glacier
Farther afield — Great Smoky Mountains, Haleakalā
What I photograph
Mountains, coastline, waterfalls, and the night sky. Some portion of my work is astrophotography, which in a national park means planning around moon phase, galactic core position, and a forecast that usually falls apart.
Most trips don't produce the frame I went for. Glacier in August gave me four days of weather I couldn't shoot in and one cloudy day. That's roughly the ratio.
How I work
I shoot with a Nikon Z5 II and edit in Lightroom and Photoshop. My approach to processing is restrained — I want an image to feel like the place felt, not like a filter. Real light, real conditions, real locations.
